I had a really great time! and here’s a podcast that recorded it. Dave Baxter reached out to me a few months ago to see if I wanted to be a guest on his podcast. His friend Dallas joined us and away we talked. He had me pick a movie and think about a wine or other beverage that I thought would go with it. I was and still am immersed in the Toxic Avenger so I talked about the one that I have seen. The first one.
To be fair, most of the movies I find entertaining would probably go with some sort of moonshine made in somebody’s bathtub. My first movie I thought of was Caddy Shack. The second was the Blues Brothers. I saw both when they came out in the theater and just wow. I also saw Pink Floyd’s The Wall in the theater as well. I made a bunch of graffiti around my suburban neighborhood of giant screaming mouthes. The best was on the wall that was covered by my door in my bedroom. My parents didn’t discover it for about nine months!
Anyway, please check out the podcast and give “Wine and..” your love. They had great takeaways from the movie and looking at my art. I always like to hear what people who aren’t familiar with me or my work. I was remembering bits of our thoughts for weeks after the interview. It was really cool.
Please politely bother your local comic book shops to preorder the whole 5 issues of Toxic Avenger!
Holy SHIT, man–that cover is epic! Crazy great, my friend.
It was lovely having you on, man! And oh man, Caddy Shack or Blues Brothers both sound like must-do's for a follow-up. (I'm even weirdly particular to Blues Brothers 2000. I know, I know.) There will defintiely be a follow-up some day! And Richard Clark is correct here in the comments, that cover to issue #3 is crazy great.
