I like the comedy.
Art for sale at a convention, and two comedy shows.

One week from today I will be at Graphfix Con at the Midtown Hilton. 1335 6th Ave. Manhattan. I believe it’s going to be a great time. This will be my 4th year and it’s gotten better every one.
I just signed my first commitment to appear at a convention for 2027 today. So start planning your trip to Syracuse, NY! I’m sorry it’s so last minute. April 4th and 5th, 2027.

I don’t have a lot to write about this week. Many random, depressing, happy, fun, thoughts were thought and forgotten. Usually around 3am. I like the idea of recording a voice message but at 3am Molly is asleep and I feel like just a whisper will wake everyone in my building! I saw two comedy shows this week. One at The Stand and one at New York Comedy Club in midtown Manhattan. Both were great! Todd Barry was one of the comedians at The Stand. Dave Attell did a quick 5 minutes too. My friend Ray DeVito hosts the Stand show on the first Tuesday of every month. Ray knows everyone and manages to get them to come in. I’ve seen a lot of top tier comedians drop in to work out new jokes or just screw around.

The NY Comedy club show was to see Steve Hofstetter. He tours with a few regular comedians and usually brings in a local up and coming comic. She was good! I forgot her name but I’m sure I’ll see her again. The other two comics that came up were also really good. Steve had a great set with new material. What I like about his shows is that he’s creating a scene around him with the comics that he’s working with. I talked to one guy who was bragging that he had seen 20 shows. So going to see him is like following the Grateful Dead or something. I’ve seen him twice now with my friend also named Steve. Both shows had the same order and format but within they were both different shows with new jokes.

I have a beautiful espresso machine. Everyone who sees it would agree. I think of it as an old muscle car from the 70’s. It’s fully manual with a lever you have to pull down to make your shot of espresso. It behaves like an old muscle car sometimes in that it breaks down but it’s all mechanical so you have to find the parts etc. No digital diagnostics required. Also like an old car, even though it was bought new, it has odd behavior that I don’t totally understand. This is what will happen from time to time. I fill up the water tank and turn the machine on. All the water will leak out the spout as it comes up to temperature. Sometimes it’s a small cup’s worth of water and sometimes it might be most of the tank. Normally it’s only a few drips or no drips. I don’t know what triggers it and it is annoying when it happens but I’ve come to realize that this is the kind of thing that gives it character or it’s uniqueness. I am a little less annoyed when I think of it in that way. Then my only anger left is that I have delayed my appointment with caffeine!

Georgia Warder and Brett Druck were the other two comics at the Hofstetter show. I do not recall the name of the local opener.
